I Will Stand Up for Tibet http://standupfortibet.org

UNA DE LAS PRIORIDADES, NECESIDADES Y DERCHOS DE LOS PUEBLOS ES LA LIBERTAD...

ALCEMOS LA VOZ.

I Will Stand Up
for Tibet

Tibet is in crisis. After invading and occupying Tibet more than 60 years ago, China has been guilty of continued oppression of basic human rights. Since 2008, Tibetan resistance against China’s rule has grown and intensified, with mass protests sweeping the Tibetan plateau. Since March 2009, 35 Tibetans have set fire to themselves in eastern Tibet; 22 since January 2012. At least 25 have died including three nuns, a reincarnate lama and a mother of four. These unprecedented acts are a cry to the outside world for help.
A new wave of protests broke out in January 2012, with demonstrators calling for freedom in Tibet and the return of the Dalai Lama. Chinese security forces have responded to these peaceful protests by opening fire on demonstrators, killing at least five Tibetans and seriously injuring many more.
China’s merciless and violent crackdown throughout Tibet is intensifying Tibetan grievances and exacerbating the resentment felt across Tibet. This growing tragedy, if left unchecked, could spiral even further into a nation-wide crisis, unless the world acts now. The international community, both citizens and governments, must Stand Up for Tibet; Global diplomatic intervention now will save Tibetan lives.
We demand a coordinated international response by world leaders to condemn China’s repressive measures in the affected regions and across Tibet, and to institute multi-lateral mechanisms to advocate for the Tibetan people. Most immediately, we call on China to withdraw its security forces from Tibet areas now, and stop the ongoing harassment and torture of monks.
